Vietnam successfully defends taekwondo title
VietNamNet Bridge - Vietnam successfully defended its champion title at the eighth ASEAN Taekwondo Championship that wrapped up in southern Ba Ria-Vung Tau province on October 13.
Host Vietnam snatched 22 golds, 18 silvers and 16 bronzes, followed by the Philippines with 11 golds, 11 silvers and 19 bronzes and Laos with one gold and three bronzes.
The two-day tournament drew the participation of 123 taekwondo players from Laos , Cambodia , Malaysia , Singapore , the Philippines and host Vietnam .
The contestants competed in 36 weight categories from 42 kg to 84 kg in combat and performance events.
